Art Therapy Distance Learning and Other Online Learning...

Beginning in 2008, several art therapy courses will be available through distance learning for continuing education credits (CECs) through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. In 2009, an online certificate in creative interventions and trauma will be offered. Check back soon for details!

Cathy has given more than 275 invited keynotes, presentations, workshops, and courses throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia for mental health, healthcare, education, and arts professionals; graduate counseling, art therapy, and expressive therapies students; and the general public. Lectures and keynote presentations include visual case examples and DVD presentations; workshops and courses include lecture, visual case examples, DVD presentations, and hands-on experience with methods of intervention. No prior art experience is necessary and workshops are appropriate for art therapists, mental health counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, addictions counselors, play therapists, expressive therapists, medical personnel, law enforcement, and school counselors and psychologists.

Continuing Education Credits

Distance learning courses are available for continuing education (CE) credits through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. Participants receive a Certificate reflecting the actual number of contact hours. It is the responsibility of the participant to determine if these CECs will be accepted toward licensure or certification or are qualified to meet your state board or employer's requirements. The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children is approved to offer continuing education credit by the following:

National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC): 6 contact hours per course

Association for Play Therapy/APT Approved Provider 01-108: 6 contact hours (only courses specific to play therapy)

National Association of Social Workers (NASW): 5.5 contact hours per course

California Board of Behavioral Sciences: 6 credit hours per course

Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling: 6 credit hours per course

Illinois Dept of Professional Regulation for Social Workers: 6 clock hours per course

Illinois Dept of Professional Regulation for Marriage and Family Therapy: 6 clock hours per course

Illinois Dept of Professional Regulation for Counselor/Clinical Counselor 6 clock hours per course

Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals: 6 credit hours per course

Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is an accredited approver of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation. 6 credit hours per course

State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board: 6 credit hours per course

Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners: 6 credit hours per course

Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors: 6 credit hours per course

Michigan State Board of Continuing Education (SB-CEU): .5 SB-CEU per course
